Remembering Krista Thompson 9/30/91 - 10/24/08

"You walked with the honor and grace of an earthly angel, blending in the crowd, dancing along as if no one was watching you." - Ms. H-J

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
”

We will remember your warm soul and spirit forever.

Love,
Heather, Richie & Tommy Young

Race for Hope - Team Krista 2009

Team Krista raised $30,883.40 to go towards the National Brain Tumor Society! This exceeded our goal of $10,000. We could not have done this without the support of our team members and supporters. Thank you very much for helping to find a cure for brain tumors. Together we are making a difference!

"When I must leave you for a little while, please do not grieve and shed wild tears, and hug your sorrow through the years. But start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near. And never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting for you in the sky." - Anonymous

Special Thank You

Krista's family would like everyone to know that she had the finest medical team at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Krista's ability to fight this illness for so long is credited to her love of life and family and most especially the knowledegable and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff in the Pediatric Oncology Department.

We would like to thank Doctors Cohen, Weingart, and Shokek and their staff. In addition, we would like to thank Nurses Sue, Tom, and Mitch. We could never express our graduitute to Doctor Leigh Marcus and Doctor Donald Parsons. Your skill and never ending pursuit of the best possible treatments for Krista gave her the highest possible quality of life. Doctor Parsons you are truely a hero.
