Sometimes as a teacher you have certain students who you learn from. In the short time that I knew Krista Thompson, she taught me to enjoy life's simple pleasures.
One day she decided to be overly dramatic- I see now that she was only trying to make a point.
"Mr. Cabacar- the vent from your trailer keeps dripping and making a huge puddle which keeps splashing on my feet. It's friggin freezing!"
"Krista, this puddle is like, the size of a quarter. Besides, you've got a hoodie on, so why don't you wear shoes so that your feet don't get wet?"
Krista's reply: "I'm not gonna wear shoes- I just got my toenails painted, and I can't show them off if I wear shoes!"
Today I decided to wear flip flops, as a tribute to her life.
